This is our 1960’s Colonial. When the Hubs and I started looking for our first home, we both had mixed decisions as to what type of house we wanted. I fell in love with a Cape Cod that was built in the 1940’s. The house had tons of character and 3/4 of an acre private lot. The Hubs hated the dormer windows and the fact that he would sometimes have to duck when he entered certain rooms on the second floor. He then fell in love with a Victorian “style” house that was built in the 1980’s. I hated the knotty pine two story great room (just imagine me trying to prime then prime then paint then paint 25 foot walls to get rid of the pine.) After looking at tons of houses we both liked this one but neither one of us wanted to tell the other out of fear that the other one would veto it. When we put our cards out on the table it became clear that this would become our first home if all went well. In August of 2011 We closed on this 2700 sq. ft. (+ 1,000 sq. ft. basement) with 4 bedrooms 2 1/2 baths and 0.45 acre lot. I should have enough projects to keep me in DIY Bliss.
Here it is in all of it’s dated glory. There is so much that I want to change about this house but realizing that the house was not the ugliest one on the block, we’ve decided to focus on the interior rather than the exterior. Besides. we only have to look at it as we enter and exit where as we spend hours on end inside of it.
The Entry Level Floor Plan.

The Garage fits two cars plus all of my tools and roadside finds. The Workroom is where I do just that “work” or as the hubs says “Where all the magic happens!” The now Dining Room used to be considered the Family Room (hence the fireplace) and the current Office used to be the Formal Dining room. We realized that If we kept that layout, the now Family Room (former formal living room) would never get any use so we re-assigned the rooms.
The Second Story Floorplan
I think its self explanatory. The fitness room is my husbands man room until we renovate the basement. Because it’s on the second floor, I am allowed to use the equipment.
Currently our basement is nothing but storage and is finished circa 1977.
